Verruca removal, advanced cosmetic procedures, advanced electrolysis
also known as plantar warts
Verruca's are warts that usually develop on the soles of the feet and can appear in ones and twos or dense clusters (mosaic warts), they are a viral infection and highly contagious and tend to affect children and teenagers more than adults. They may have tiny black dots in the centre – which are tiny blood clots that have formed in small blood vessels.
Over time they can become painful and irritating, especially when they are in weight bearing areas which results in the need for specialist removal. Where there are multiple occurrences, it is helpful to record which one appeared first as often treating the "mother" wart can trigger a viral immune response that causes other untreated warts to spontaneously resolve.
Many conditions require more than one treatment which is indicated by the size, location and quantity of the lesions to be removed. Your treatment plan will be discussed with you during your consultation to enable you to make clear and confident decisions.
The technique used for removal is Advanced Electrolysis or short wave diathermy (known as thermolysis in the USA). Our head aesthetician has over 30 years experience and is trained and approved by Sterex International, who provide the highest level of training for medical, dental and aesthetic practitioners across the globe.
It is important to note that we cannot prevent the appearance of further lesions and while in most cases complete removal is achieved we cannot guarantee that everyone will have the same results, each person will heal differently and in some cases there may still be some discolouration after treatment.
All conditions require a consultation and test treatment prior to having a full treatment unless there is only one blemish to be removed, then the consultation will then be changed to a complete removal and priced accordingly.
During your consultation we ascertain the nature and location of the blemish you wish to have removed and if it is suitable for treatment.
The consultation involves a questionnaire about your current health, any medical conditions you may suffer from and any medication you may be taking. Your therapist then explains how the treatment works and the expectations you can have.
Appointments that are not attended or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice are subject to our normal cancellation policy. Appointments that are not attended are charged at full price.
To prepare for your consultation and test treatment please ensure the following;
1. You will be sent an online pre consultation form, please fill this out prior to your visit to ensure we are able to treat you on the day, certain conditions and medication may require us to obtain prior medical consent before we are able to treat you.
2. That you have not used topical steroids, hydrocortisone or any vitamin A based products such as retinol, retinal, Tretinoin and Retin A for three months prior to treatment.
3. That you have not interfered with the blemish in any way such as picking or applying topical treatments or ointments and that it is not angry or inflamed prior to treatment.
4. It is best to arrange your appointment when you don't have any engagements, activities or travel planned for 48 hours afterwards.
You will be given written aftercare advice and an aftercare product to apply after your initial consultation and your therapist will advise you on your course of treatment moving forward and how you should care for the treated area.
Please be aware that you are limited to what you can expose your skin to for 48 hours after treatment and should plan your appointments accordingly as you cannot do any of the following;
